Ideas & Checklist

My idea for my FMP is to do full development work leading to a final piece of concept art and orthographic as well as some another two final pieces to show the character & creature in a different way like having some final designs of the face with different expressions/poses from a few angles as well as final design of a walk cycle and other animations.

Basic Idea:
To create and develop a character and companion using traditional, mixed media and digital art or two characters.

Idea Generation:
Themes/ Genre:
Fantasy
Sci - Fi Sub: Steampunk, Cyberpunk

Deadline: 22nd May 2015

Role:
Villain - Will use a range of dark gloomy colours to create a dark atmosphere as well as giving the character negative expression/atmosphere so that they look and feel evil or they have a dark like expression. And for the companion i would choose to give them a scary expression or a savage like appearance. Or perhaps I would research into animals people believe to be evil whether religion, beliefs or supposition and use that animal for the companion. I would also research into villain stereotypes from media like games, film, books etc. As well as looking at other people's concept art of similar themes.

Anti-Hero:
To make a character in this archetype I would first research the stereotypical ones from in media as well as concept art related to the archetype. After I would research how I can fit it into my chosen genre/setting.

Character & Creature Generation:
1- One idea that I had was to do a character set in a game in a steampunk world in which I would have do heavy research into themes surrounding the genre like clothes, appearances and how they are fitted into the world like how they are immersed into it as well as how current games that use the genre have designed there characters to fit the genre. For the creature I would probably go for a companion like creature such as a dog, cat or maybe a smaller non-domestic animal like a wolf but I would research each and sketch them out roughly to get a feel on what fits best for the role and setting as well as adding a steampunk like addition to it such things like the internal structure of the animal in comprised of gears and such technology or some of the body parts have been changed to more mechanical parts.

2 - The second idea was to do a character based within the fantasy genre which leaves me open with a big gap on how to approach the design as it can be anything from human to some sort of made up race of people which can be taken from the modern day fantasy archetypes such as elves or dwarfs to a completely new idea. For starters i will try to decide on the gender of my character in which I am more leaning towards a female character and am also leaning towards either a mage archetype or a warrior archetype or maybe a hybrid of the two in which I will research into medieval type clothing as well as fantasy style media (Games, TV, Film, Music, Concept Art). For the creature I will have to decide between a small companion creature or a mount of some sort in which I will decide between the animal nature (Carnivore, Herbivore, Omnivore) and then design its appearance, characteristics and personality based upon this. Will research into various animals present in real world and some from fiction).

3 - Basing my character of one of the seven deadly sins in a cyberpunk/ fantasy genre. This idea is based around having two characters that would represent one or two of the seven dealy sins, and would serve as anti-hero's in a video game setting.  Went with this one.
